NBA Mock Draft V1
The 2014 NBA Draft will take place on June 26th, 2014. While the draft lottery isn't until May 20th, 2014, meaning that the order of the draft will not be certain until then, the following is my draft projections based on team's current records and assuming that underclassmen will declare for the draft:
1. Milwaukee Bucks: Andrew Wiggins, SF, Kansas - Although he didn't play well in his final game, Wiggins is a surefire all star and has been hyped as the best prospect since LeBron James.
2. Philadephia 76ers: Jabari Parker, SF, Duke - Is NBA ready and draws many comparisons to Carmelo Anthony.
3. Orlando Magic: Joel Embiid, C, Kansas - Has the highest ceiling in the draft, but also has bust potential since he is a big man who is prone to injuries.
4. Utah Jazz: Aaron Gordon, PF, Arizona - Blake Griffin with a jump shot.
5. Boston Celtics: Julius Randle, PF, Kentucky - The most NBA ready player in this draft. He is a man among boys in the college game.
6. Los Angeles Lakers: Dante Exum, PG, Australia - Plays internationally so hasn't competed against these players, but is said to possibly have the most talent in this draft.
7. Sacramento Kings: Marcus Smart, SG, Oklahoma State - A great scorer whose personality has come into question after he pushed a fan during a game.
8. Detroit Pistons: Gary Harris, SG, Michigan State - One of the best, if not the best, shooters in this draft.
9. Cleveland Cavaliers: Noah Vonleh, PF, Indiana - A 'do it all' type of player.
10. Denver Nuggets: Tyler Ennis, PG, Syracuse - Has a very high basketball IQ, especially for a freshman in college.
11. Philadelphia 76ers: KJ McDaniels, SF, Clemson - A freak of nature athlete who has flown under the radar this year.
12. Orlando Magic: Doug McDermott, SF, Creighton - On the top 5 list for points by a collegiate basketball player.
13. Minnesota Timberwolves: Rodney Hood, SF, Duke - Although he doesn't get as much attention as Jabari Parker, he has possibly been the most important player on Duke's team this year.
14. Phoenix Suns: Willie Cauley-Stein, C, Kentucky - A big man with a lot of potential, but there are injury concerns.
15. Atlanta Hawks: Nik Stauskas, SG, Michigan - Along with Gary Harris, Stauskas is the best shooter in this draft.
16. Chicago Bulls: Adreian Payne, PF, Michigan State - Has a great jump shot for a big man, but can't do much off the dribble.
17. Boston Celtics: Dario Saric, SF, Croatia - A wild card due to the fact that he has played internationally and not at the collegiate level.
18. Phoenix Suns: Montrezl Harrell, PF, Louisville - A high energy guy who is a great rebounder, especially on the offensive glass.
19. Chicago Bulls: James Young, SG, Kentucky - A great scorer who is sometimes overlooked because of teammate Julius Randle.
20. Toronto Raptors: Shabazz Napier, PG, Connecticut - Shades of Kemba Walker, especially in the way he has led UCONN to the Final Four.
21. Memphis Grizzlies: Zach LaVine, SG, UCLA - A player who is similar to Stauskas, but will not be as good in the NBA as the Michigan sophomore.
22. Oklahoma City Thunder: PJ Hairston, SG, North Carolina - Was ineligible to play this year, which concerns some general managers.
23. Utah Jazz: Wayne Selden, SF, Kansas - One of the top recruits coming out of high school. A great scorer who has been overlooked because of teammate Andrew Wiggins, the projected top pick.
24. Charlotte Bobcats: Jerami Grant, PF, Syracuse - A gritty player who does all of the small things that sometimes don't show up on the score card.
25. Houston Rockets: Patric Young, C, Florida - A very athletic big man who is good on both offense and defense.
26. Miami Heat: Kyle Anderson, SF, UCLA - A very lanky, athletic player, which gives him a lot of potential to be great on defense.
27. Los Angeles Clippers: Sam Dekker, SF, Wisconsin - A good collegiate player whose talents may not fully translate to the NBA. Will be a role player.
28. Oklahoma City Thunder: TJ Warren, SF, North Carolina State - A great scorer who needs to improve on defense.
29. Phoenix Suns: Clint Capela, PF, Switzerland - Like Saric, he is a wild card because he played overseas and hasn't received too much attention.
30. San Antonio Spurs: Andrew Harrison, SG, Kentucky - A big guard who can shoot the ball very well, as can his twin brother, Aaron.
